Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal to sign former player Gareth Bale on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. According to skysports, the deal will be worth £20m in wages and loan fees.
Bale left Tottenham for Madrid in 2013 for a club record of £86m. In the Seven years that he had been with the current La Liga champions, Bale has won two La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions league titles -scoring thrice in two finals, one Copa Del Rey, two UEFA Supercups and three FIFA Club World Cups.
Bale is no longer in Zidane’s starting XI and was rarely used in the 2019/20 season that saw Madrid clinch the title. Due to his huge wage bill, Los Blancos will be aiming to release him with Tottenham coming up as his favourite destination.
Jose Mourinho has twice attempted to sign the Wales captain during his time at Madrid and Manchester United. The arrival of Bale at Tottenham will provide Mourinho with more options upfront with the London side struggling in the final third in a 1-0 defeat to Everton in the Premier league.
On the other hand, Ex-Chelsea Captain Branislav Ivanovic has joined newly promoted West Brom on a one year deal. He came as a free agent after his contract with Russian side Zenit st Petersburg ran out.
The 36 year old Serbian left Chelsea in 2017 where he had won three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the Champions League, Europa League and the League Cup during his 9 year stay with the blues.
After leaving Chelsea, he joined Zenit St Petersburg, a team he captained and helped clinch two Russian Premier league titles and one Russian cup.
